It is hard to believe that March is already halfway gone--and only two more weeks until spring break! I hope everyone had a great time at Taste of the Park on Friday!
A few reminders: *Our field trip is THIS Friday (23rd) to the Fernbank Museum. If your child is bringing a lunch for this trip, please make sure it is in a disposable pack! *3rd Quarter Report Cards go home on Wednesday! *Milestones Testing will start on Tuesday, April 10th- attendance is very important during this testing period! Check out the DOE's resources to learn more about the Milestones Assessment: Parent Resource/Study Guide Look at what we are learning this week: Math: We had a great "time" with our telling time to the nearest minute lessons last week. Students did a good job of naming the different parts of a clock, reviewing telling time from second grade, and being more specific with taking that knowledge to find the nearest minute. This week we will be learning how to solve problems involving elapsed time. This is something that is quick and easy to review with your students at home each afternoon too! Reading: This week in reading we will be looking at informational texts to find the main idea and key details within them. Students will be diving into a new class set of books-One Well-now that we have finished our Peter Pan story together. Writing: Students will be responding to informational writing prompts this week using information given in different passages. We will be looking at different ways to brainstorm for ideas, and creating graphic organizers to help with the structure of our writing. Science: We have just finished our adaptations unit by designing some very creative animal species with special characteristics to help them live in certain habitats. Check out buildyourwildself.com for an example of the kind of creatures we made! Grammar: We will be investigating independent and dependent clauses this week to help us with the three types of sentence structure next week!
