Reminder: Our field trip to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta is THIS WEDNESDAY, March 29th!
Take a look at what we are learning this week: Math: We are moving our way into geometry! Students will be reviewing some of the polygons they learned last year, as well as, taking a closer look into attributes, and how shapes (specifically quadrilaterals) are similar and different. *Keep working with students on multiplication facts 0-10 Social Studies/Science: We have taken a small break in our concentrated social studies/science curriculum, and are using our time to review important math and reading skills/information to get ready for the Georgia Milestones (which begins April 19th). Students will still be exposed to these social studies and science topics through integrating the information into our math and ELA blocks. Reading: We are continuing to implement the Daily5 model into our classroom during reading time, and the students have been doing a great job of staying engaged with each task. This week we are focusing on identifying the parts of a poem. Students will be learning about similes and metaphors used in poems throughout the week. Writing: Students are beginning our opinion writing unit. Students will be distinguishing between facts and opinions, debating each other, and constructing their own opinion piece this week.
