I am so excited to be back from Spring Break and to be hearing of all of the fun and relaxing times the students had last week.
We have a busy rest of the school year planned, and the students and I are so ready to finish out this school year strong. We will be taking the Georgia Milestones test starting next Wednesday, April 19th. It is SO important that students are present (physically and mentally) for the week we are taking it. Don't worry though: we will be continuing to review during class, study guides for both the math and ELA portion were sent home today, AND there are a variety of extra resources online at: http://www.gadoe.org/Curriculum-Instruction-and-Assessment/Assessment/Documents/GM%20Grade%203%20EOG%20Assessment%20Guide%203.pdf http://www.gadoe.org/Curriculum-Instruction-and-Assessment/Assessment/Documents/Milestones/Study-Resource%20Guides/Milestones_StudyGuide_GR03_11-16.pdf Math: We are continuing our unit on geometry. We are really focusing on the similarities and differences between the quadrilaterals, as seen in their attributes. There has been a lot of rich discussion in class using our geometry vocabulary--be sure to continue these conversations at home! Continue to work on multiplication facts 0-10! Reading: This week we are focusing on a variety of our reading standards. We are close-reading passages and focusing on finding the main idea, parts of the plot, and comparing and contrasting these passages. Writing: Students will be looking at different types of constructed response pieces, asking them to continue the narrative, defend their opinion, or state the difference between the information given. With each new challenge, we will going through the writing process together and reviewing the different parts of narrative, opinion, and informative pieces. Social Studies/Science: We are still putting our social studies and science curriculum on hold this week. We are working on integrating these areas with our reading passages, however, a lot of this instructional time will be used for reviewing for the Milestones. |
