A few reminders: *Permission forms for our Fernbank Museum Field Trip are due this Friday-16th. *Please sign and return the third quarter progress reports that went home on Friday. *We are still accepting box tops this week :) Look at what we are learning this week: Math: Students tackled identifying fractions on a number line this week. They will use the skills they have been working on these past few weeks to identify equivalent fractions. Once the students have mastered finding equivalent fractions, we will be moving onto comparing fractions with the same numerator or same denominator. Reading: Students will continue working on identifying the theme, setting, and plot this week. Last week we used the story Town Mouse, Country Mouse by Jan Brett to discuss these story elements. This we will be using another Jan Brett story: Mossy. We are working on a couple more chapters in Peter Pan this week. I encourage you to ask your students questions at home about what is going on in our Peter Pan story. Writing: We are in the process of publishing our first opinion piece this week. The students have produced rough drafts, and will be taking them through the editing and revising process. Social Studies: The students have learned so much about our 13 Colonies (New England, Mid-Atlantic, and Southern). This week the students will be looking at the colonies through the perspectives of the people who lived there. They will also be finding the similarities and differences between the 3 regions. Our class has LOVED listening to this song to start our lessons each day: The History of Colonial America Grammar: Comparative and superlative adjectives!
